2025 has been a deeply transitional year. It has been a year full of lessons and more importantly, a year to truly grasp them. As I look ahead to 2026, which I believe is a year of being sent, I have felt a growing awareness of how important it is to receive the understanding God has been offering us in this season. Instruction prepares us before commissioning.
It is imperative that we do not resist the Lord’s guidance. Resistance often reflects a lack of understanding.
God is not a harsh taskmaster. He leads with love and intends good for those who belong to Him. Yet when divine instruction is resisted, our hearts can become less responsive, and life often teaches us through hardship rather than through peace-filled understanding. Underneath stubbornness is deception. If we really knew the God who wants to lead us, and how deeply good He is, what causes us to push back against His direction?
Scripture says, “Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.”
Psalm 32:9 (KJV)
When understanding is absent, patterns repeat. Scripture also warns us about the danger of returning to cycles we refuse to confront, exposing how folly persists when instruction is ignored.
“As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.”
Proverbs 26:11 (KJV)
Yet the Lord does not leave us without direction. He invites us into understanding, offers instruction, and guides those who are willing to be taught. His guidance is loving, intentional, rooted in relationship and attentiveness to His voice.
“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”
Psalm 32:8 (KJV)
Because of this, it has been on my heart to share some of the lessons I have learned in the year 2025, in no particular order.
Over the course of the next five days, I will be sharing just five of the many lessons the Lord has been walking me through this year. My hope and prayer is that these reflections serve as encouragement and a reminder that you are not alone in the work God is doing in our lives.
I look forward to meeting you right here in your inbox tomorrow. As always, feel free to share any feedback or reflections if something resonates with you.
Happy Holidays, scribes. ♡
