I’ve seen wills harder than stone walls.
No give.
More resistance than tall,
Unyielding oak trees.
When Jehovah said be steadfast
Did he mean hold your breath until you pass out?
Persistently return to your vomit like dogs?
What made you inflexible?
Like armor on the chests of men of old.
Stubborn?
Obstinate?
Like toddlers who collapse, go limp and drop all their weight.
I’ve seen our wills become tougher than top grain leather.
As rigid as wire rope.
Lost hope for all humanity once I saw
the Creator of the universe, yielded.
Threw up his hands and stepped back.
Left men to our own devices.
Moved out of the way of man’s will.
You mean to tell me…
…The Rock of Ages
will yield?
Give way to the ways of men?
The God to whom belongs all wisdom, power, understanding and counsel
The God who tears down and it cannot be rebuilt
who imprisons and it cannot be released
will throw his hands up… and step back?
This God?
that holds back waters, causing a drought.
if lets them loose, they will devastate the land.
The one to who rules over the deceived and the deceiver.
…will move out of the way?
Thats a scary sight.
You toss and turn all night
wondering how hell had legal right to come in and wreak havoc in your life.
It’s because of your will.
In his mercy, he’ll break what you hold so tight.
With just one blow, he won’t strike twice.
What have you willed yourself to do?
Have we truly consulted God?
Or have we gone out on a whim to fulfill our own desires?
Do we strive against God with our determination?
Dire decisions
Critical choices
Let us consult the God who knows our end from our beginning.
Give Him your will.
Psalms 81:11-14
“But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.
So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels.
Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!
I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.”
